An organised mum who is known for sharing home hacks on TikTok has revealed how to banish cooking odour from the house.
In a recent video, Melbourne blogger Chantel Mila simmered two cups of water with one cup of white vinegar on the stove then added sliced lemons to the mixture.
She claims the acetic acid in the vinegar helps ‘neutralise odours’ while the lemons leave the kitchen smelling fresh.

In a recent video, Melbourne blogger Chantel Mila simmered two cups of water with one cup of white vinegar then added sliced lemons to the mixture
‘Rid cooking odours quickly with this simple tip,’ she captioned the short demonstrative clip.
Once the mixture was simmering she carefully moved the pot around the kitchen and living areas.
The DIY recipe is the perfect natural alternative to using store-bought fragrances.
The insight was dubbed as a ‘great idea’ by other TikTok users and the video has since been viewed more than 15,000 times.
In the comments one woman asked if limes could be used as an alternative to lemons, and Mila wrote: ‘The lemon is for smell, so you can switch it out to lime if you prefer the smell’.
Another added: ‘It’s the vinegar that gets rid of the smell’.

‘One of the most common questions I get asked is how to tackle greasy kitchen cabinetry,’ she wrote on Instagram and shared a video.
‘This simple DIY spray is great at cutting through tough grime and grease on kitchen cabinets and throughout the kitchen (it’s perfect for splash-backs and stovetops too!).’
In the video Chantel made the concoction, sprayed it onto her white kitchen cabinets then wiped down the surface with a microfibre cloth.
The combined ingredients work well together to combat against oil, grease and unwanted kitchen stains.
Vinegar is a natural antibacterial solution that is safe to pair with dishwashing liquid to combat against tough stains and germs.
The use of essential oil would leave the kitchen smelling fresh and clean.
