DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE a bad snoring problem and am worried my new girlfriend will get fed up.
We met through mutual friends and it’s been going really well.
I am 33 but she is my first serious girlfriend. She is 31.
We’ve had sex and it’s been great – it’s afterwards that is the problem. I snore really loudly and she can’t sleep.
I’m not overweight and I’ve stopped smoking.
She’s tried earplugs but my snoring is so loud I still end up sleeping on the sofa. Have you any remedies?

There is a type of heavy snoring, which is called sleep apnoea, when you stop breathing for a moment.
It can be a strain on the heart and treatment is needed.
Otherwise, there are things you can try, such as pegs sewn on the back of your pyjamas to stop you sleeping on your back, all explained in my e-leaflet on Stopping Snoring.
