There are several at-home treatments or even over the counter remedies you can try to reduce your eye bags.
However, these can only reduce the appearance of eye bags for a short period of time.
To remove eye bags completely, often surgery is required.
There are some short-term remedies, however, and these are listed below.
Applying anything cool to your under-eye area can help to reduce the swelling and puffiness.
You can use an ice pack, frozen bags of vegetables, cold spoons, chilled cucumber to name a few.
The cold reduces blood flow to the area, which in turn will lessen the puffiness around your eyes.
Caffeine can reduce swelling by constricting blood vessels.
This is known as vasoconstriction and to see the effects you can use eye creams which include caffeine.
You can also use chilled tea bags, so long as they are caffeinated black tea, and lie with these over your eyes.
Use haemorrhoid creams
Some creams designed for haemorrhoid treatments are commonly used to tackle pesky under-eye bags.
This is because these products contain phenylephrine which narrows blood vessels and in turn reduces swelling.
However it is important to note these products can cause irritation to sensitive under-eye skin, so use with care, and definitely avoid getting any in your eyes.
Look after yourself
This may seem like common sense, but there can be several lifestyle factors which cause puffy eyes.
Getting plenty of rest, hydrating well and being safe in the sun are all things which can in the long-term reduce under-eye swelling.
Trying to manage stress levels, watching for foods which may cause irritation and avoiding alcohol can also help to reduce eye bags.
