We’re always curious to know how Holly Willoughby fills her spare time, so we were intrigued to discover she’s become a beauty guinea pig on the side – trialling a UK first!
She and her gorgeous locks have been involved in pre-launch tests of Garnier’s brand new Ultimate Blends Shampoo Bar, £7.99, which has just become the first solid shampoo to hit the high street from a major brand.
Shampoo bars have been growing in popularity thanks to their eco credentials, but they’ve remained pretty niche – until now.

Because let’s face it, anything that’s good enough for Holly’s luscious locks is good enough for all of us.
“I’ve been secretly testing Garnier’s new Shampoo Bars and the whole family loves them!” Holly reveals, conjuring up cute images of her lathering up kids Belle, Chester and Harry (not to mention hubby Dan).
The bars are £7.99 each at Boots and come in four versions: honey for strengthening for damaged hair, ginger for revitalising for dull hair, coconut for hydrating for dry hair and softening oat for sensitive scalps, which has the Willoughby seal of approval.
“Softening Oat is my fave – I love the scent and it leaves my hair feeling super silky!” says Holly, who’s a Garnier ambassador, along with Davina McCall who’s also using it.

Davina says: “I’m honestly SO excited about it launching – used to dream about a waterless formula and plastic free shampoo that ACTUALLY WORKS!”
If you’ve never used a solid shampoo before, there are plenty of reasons to switch. There’s zero plastic waste, and each bar lasts longer than a bottle, with Garnier’s promising up to two months’ worth of hair washes.
The Ultimate Blends bars are also 94% plant based, 97-99% biodegradable and free of silicone and soap, and also promise a “fast rinse technology”, so you’re not hanging around in the shower, wasting water.
It’s all part of Garnier’s Green Beauty goals, aiming to cut plastic waste and make our beauty regimes more planet friendly.
If you fancy boosting your hair Holly-style, as well as your green credentials, the bars are at Boots now and will be more widely available online and across other stores from Feb 2021.
