Finding hidden messages in a new home is exciting (or scary, depending on the note).
And for those leaving, it can be tempting to leave their mark.
One little girl who had stayed in a caravan decided to leave a note to the new inhabitants of the van.
10-year-old Poppy, from Australia, had spent the summer travelling in the RV with her family for the summer.
When it was time to leave, Poppy decided to leave a message behind for the new owners.
The Brisbane-based family who discovered the letter were touched and shared it on Facebook page ABC Adelaide.
In the note, Poppy detailed how much she enjoyed staying in the van and wished the new family happy memories.
Poppy began the letter, saying: ‘Hi, my name is Poppy and I am 10 years old.
‘This used to be our caravan and we travelled half of Australia in it. This was my bed (the top bunk) and it was very good.
‘I hope you enjoy this caravan very much’.
But it was her parting note that touched the family.
Poppy had written: ‘I have a message for you; follow your dreams and if you have the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.’
When the finders of the letter read it, they shared it on the Facebook page where it received more than 90,000 likes.
People called Poppy a legend for her wholesome message.
One person wrote: ‘Poppy you’re a legend. May all your dreams come true with much love health and all the kindness happiness of the world.’
Another person said: ‘Wise words Poppy – for then, for now and for always.’
A third person added: ‘What a lovely thing to find in a drawer’.
Some people hoped they found a similar note, saying: ‘When I get my caravan I’d love to find one of these in it.’
So would we.
