Boots launches new menopause tool to help women ease symptoms

BOOTS has launched a new tool that will help people going through the menopause get the treatment they need.

On World Menopause Awareness Day, the leading British pharmacy is helping customers find solutions for their symptoms as quickly as possible.

A new dedicated menopause page on boots.com allows customers to shop by symptom.

Relevant products have been catergorised under bladder weakness, hair loss, joint aches and more.

Meanwhile, customers are now able to access prescription only treatment for menopause symptoms through the Boots Online Doctor Service.

It offers women access to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) tablets, patches and gels without having to go to a doctor.

Instead, women just need to carry out an online consultation form that can take as little as five minutes to complete.

HRT replaces hormones that are lost during the menopause, causing hot flushes, anxiety, memory loss and more.

It follows new research from Boots, which revealed that 43 per cent of people who use digital healthcare services would rather seek menopause treatment digitally as they feel it is faster than a GP appointment.

Boots pharmacists and team members will have access to specialist menopause training.

Bernadette Lavery, Director of Pharmacy, Boots UK says: “People who are struggling with the symptoms of menopause do not need to manage them alone.

“There are often a lot of questions surrounding menopause and our pharmacists are on-hand to offer support for patients to help them manage it appropriately.

“The menopause is a natural process, but it is different for everyone. Boots pharmacists are always here to listen and can provide tailored advice and support to help customers deal with their symptoms.”

There are up to 40 different signs and symptoms of the menopause, with most women experiencing an average of seven.

Exclusive research by The Sun’s Fabulous Menopause Matters campaign found 50 per cent of women, aged 48 on average, said there is not enough support out there for menopausal women.

The campaign is addressing the "taboo" subject, calling for free HRT and a workplace policy in every business.
