A woman who was prescribed steroids by her doctor as he thought her adult acne was an allergic reaction reveals she’s finally found solace in a £12.95 serum.

Lianne Barnett, 31, from Stoke-on-Trent, first developed acne at the age of 25 after going through a stressful period with changing jobs.

At its worst, her skin would break out into ‘large painful lumps’ and felt constantly ‘infected and sore.’

With several products on the market failing to make a difference, she finally found the answer in an unlikely solution – a natural serum, containing silver.

‘Within a week I could start to see the angriness of my skin reducing, it was less red and less sore,’ she explained. ‘Then over the following weeks the spots began to reduce in size and didn’t hurt so much. Within five weeks my skin was almost clear.’

The beautician, who admitted her bad skin got in the way of her social life, has since found an unlikely solution in a £12.95 serum. Pictured, Lianne feels much more confident now

As a teenager, Lianne had ‘lovely clear skin’ and thought she’d escaped the curse of teen acne like many of her friends suffered.

But when she was 25, the beautician went through quite a stressful period when she was changing jobs, and her skin just started breaking out.

‘At first I thought it was some kind of skin reaction to a beauty product or my make-up but it just never cleared up,’ explained Lianne.

The serum (above) costs £12.95 for 50ml and Lianne claimed to notice an improvement in her skin after five weeks

‘The acne would start as large painful lumps under the skin that after a few days would burst, then it would stay there for weeks before it healed up.’

Desperate to clear her skin, Lianne tried normal acne products sold in stores across the country, but to no avail.

‘After a year, when I was 26, with my skin going from bad to worse, I eventually went to the doctors,’ she explained.

‘They gave me a cream for dermatitis as they thought I had a skin allergy because I had never had acne in the past.’

However, a year later after Lianne complained several times that the cream was not working, she was prescribed steroids.

‘They made my skin even worse and also really sensitive,’ she said. ‘While using the steroid cream my acne actually got worse and the underlying skin became red and raw.’

Eventually, fed up of being told there was nothing more they could do for her, Lianne gave up going to the doctors.

The beautician felt so low in confidence. she got to the stage where she wouldn’t leave the house without a thick layer of make-up. Pictured, before using the serum

The 31-year-old told how within five weeks of using the Silver Serum twice a day her skin was ‘almost clear.’ Pictured, 14 months after using the serum

‘They told me what I had must be “something hormonal” and that I should just try and put up with it,’ she explained.

‘So I took matters into my own hands and found a glycolic acid peel which was supposed to be brilliant for acne.

‘But all it did was make my skin sting and dried my skin out completely. My acne didn’t budge.’

After that, Lianne made her way through most products she read about in magazines, saw on blogs and recommendations from people for acne, but nothing worked.

‘My acne was getting progressively worse and my skin felt constantly infected and sore,’ she said.

‘I got to the stage where I would not leave the house, not even to the shop, without a thick layer of make-up. The only people I would ever let see me without make-up were my mum and dad.’

She continued: ‘My acne really got me down and eroded my confidence. I’m normally a very upbeat and sociable person and for a while it did make me feel quite miserable and anti-social.’

When concerned people at work started mentioning Lianne’s skin, she said it made her  feel ‘awful’ because it meant people were noticing her acne. Pictured, with clear skin now

When she turned 30, Lianne gave up using products for several months as everything she tried was making her skin worse. Pictured, three months after using the product

Lianne didn’t really feel like going out much, and when she did, she had to spend hours getting ready to cover up all her spots.

‘Then I’d spend half the evening worrying that my make-up was for wearing off or sliding off my skin and had to keep popping to the bathroom to check my acne wasn’t on show,’ explained Lianne.

Then aged 28, the beautician started dating someone and refused to let him see her without a full face of make-up on.

‘I’d get up in the morning before he woke up to re-apply my make-up,’ she explained. ‘He never said anything bad about my skin as he knew how sensitive I was about it.’

‘I would get the comments at work or from friends asking me what was going on with my skin.’

‘I know people were just trying to be helpful or concerned but it made me feel awful that they were noticing my skin.’

When Lianne turned 30, she gave up using products for several months as everything she tried was making her skin worse.

Then 24 months ago, her mum saw an article in a magazine on Clarol Silver Serum.

It was just 24 months ago that Lianne’s mother saw an article in a magazine on Clarol Silver Serum – the product she praises for clearing her skin. Pictured, now

Speaking of the serum, Lianne (pictured five weeks after using the product), explained: ‘It’s honestly the best thing I have ever tried in my life for my skin and I swear by it. I’m just so grateful to my mum for making me try it’

‘It was about someone around my age who like me had tried everything for her acne,’ she explained. ‘She found this serum and it had transformed her skin in weeks.’

How does Silver serum work?

– Silver Serum is designed to remain active on the skin for several hours after application, so keeping acne lesions constantly guarded against becoming populated with bad skin bacteria

– MicroSilver ™ has been found in two studies to reduce inflammation and infection in skin lesions.

– It was found to be effective at reducing the severity and symptoms of skin infection in 70% of patients after a two-week trial period

– In a longer trial involving patients with severe skin infection, 93% were able to come off other medicated treatments after applying MicroSilver ™ to their infected skin

‘She convinced me to try it because it was a mostly natural product that worked differently to other products.’

The product claimed to build up good skin bacteria on the skin rather than just attack the acne.

‘I had never tried anything that was so natural for my acne before,’ explained Lianne.

‘I remember the first time I put the silver serum on my skin; the itching and soreness calmed almost immediately.’

Within five weeks of using the Silver Serum twice a day, Lianne’s skin was almost clear.

‘I have been using it every day since and would never now go a day without it,’ she explained. ‘My acne has not really ever come back.

She added: ‘I get the odd isolated spot now and then but it’s nothing compared to the state my skin used to be in.

It’s honestly the best thing I have ever tried in my life for my skin and I swear by it. I’m just so grateful to my mum for making me try it.’
