Margaret Howell's Technical and Minimal Mizuno Collaboration Is Here

London-based designer Margaret Howell has released its FW21 collaboration with the Japanese sportswear label Mizuno, introducing a four-piece capsule collection alongside a pair of sneakers.

Comprised of two women’s jackets and two men’s jackets — although given Howell’s signature minimalistic aesthetic, it’s safe to assume these pieces are rather unisex — the collaboration puts the spotlight on what both brands do best. For Margaret Howell, that’s creating clothes that fit well, have great proportions, and are elegantly minimal, while Mizuno lends its hand to inject a technical undertone to the outerwear styles, informed by its knowledge in fabrics.

The result is a hiking coat and hiking jacket, which sees both made from dense nylon that’s rainproof. The hiking coat features two-way zippers, a storm flap, a drawcord and leather slider-adjusted hood, a fishtail finish, and horn buttons for a luxurious finish. The jacket is much of the same, also featuring a hood and two-way fastening, but of course, is cut shorter and is finished with raglan sleeves.

As for the shoes, Margaret Howell decks out the upper in GORE-TEX and tints the entire pair in black from the outsole to the upper, while a small touch of Mizuno branding in white graces the tongue alongside Margaret Howell branding on the insole.

Speaking on the collaboration, Howell said, “What I appreciate about our collaboration with Mizuno is the combination of their technical fabric and expertise of manufacturing and our suggestions on design and fit proportions. The result is a sophisticated collection of weatherproof clothing designed for an active lifestyle, be it in the city or the countryside.”
