Ulrika Jonsson admitted she feels “defeated by the stress, doom and relentless gloom” this year as she said Christmas Day is not an occasion she often looks forward to. The Celebs Go Dating star explained her former husband Brian Monet will be joining the family for Christmas dinner.

The 55-year-old has been married three times – first to cameraman John Turnbull from 1990 to 1995, with whom she had a son named Cameron in 1994.

Ulrika then famously married Lance Gerrard-Wright after meeting him on 2002 reality show Mr.Right.

She gave birth to their daughter Martha in May 2004 but the pair later split in October 2005.

The columnist later married her third husband Brian Monet in 2008 and they welcomed their son Malcolm the same year.

In April 2019, Ulrika announced that she had split from Brian after 11 years of marriage.

The presenter is also a mum to her eldest daughter Bo from a previous relationship.

Writing in her latest column for The Sun, the mum of four explained Brian will be joining the family this Christmas, as she admitted it’s a “conflicting time” for her.

“This year feels different for other reasons, too, because three out of four children have now flown the nest and I still have my ex-husband at the table, even though he’s loved up with someone else,” she penned.

“He’ll be there for the sake of the kids, as he has been for the past four years since we separated, in order that they have a sense of continuity.”

Ulrika continued: “I’m not sure how well and for how long that’s going to go on working for me.

“I mean, there is a reason why you divorce someone — and it’s not to spend high days and holidays together.”

The columnist went on to share that Christmas can be a “strain” for families after “being forced to be together will doubtless lead to a stampede to divorce lawyers in early January”.

Ulrika also admitted this time of year gives her an “overwhelming sense of trepidation” having lost three grandads and her father during this season.

She added Christmas time is often marred by arguments and tensions.

The on-screen star finished by saying she is grateful to have a roof over her head and a warm house “filled with loved ones”.

Ulrika has previously opened up about how she spends Christmas Day with her former husbands.

Writing in her column last year, she explained she and John shared Cameron over Christmas after their marriage split and still do today.

Ulrika went on to share she and her second husband Lance put on a united front at Christmas after their split so they could make it special for their daughter Martha.

The former Gladiators host insists she and her husbands have good working relationships today for the sake of their children, with none of the parties withholding “permission” as they want the best for their children.

However, Ulrika is aware not all families are so lucky, saying she believes she is skilful when it comes to managing difficult situations with her exes.
