Rose Ayling-Ellis’ long-term boyfriend, Samuel Arnold, wasn’t in the recorded video message sent in by her nearest and dearest ahead of tonight’s live Strictly final. The EastEnders star has reportedly been dating her beau for the past seven years, which is why some fans were left confused by his absence.

Tonight Rose, 27, and her partner Giovanni, 31, will take to the Strictly dance floor for the final time in the hopes of lifting the coveted Glitterball trophy.

The pair will face off against former Bake Off winner John Whaite and his professional partner Johannes Radebe.

Ahead of the big finale, Rose appeared with her partner on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, where she was shown a special video of her family and friends sending in all their support.

However, Rose’s boyfriend of nearly a decade Samuel was nowhere to be seen, leaving some viewers scratching their heads.

“Where was Rose’s boyfriend?” asked Paul Langstaff with the hashtag #Strictly.

“How come they’ve never had Rose’s boyfriend on?” added TheRealDeal506.

Earlier this month, another Twitter user, Brian Agar, made the observation: “Find it strange that all past contestants in Strictly have thanked their boyfriends, husbands, wives etc for their support during the show.

“Yet Rose Ayling-Ellis has never once publicly thanked her boyfriend for all his support during her time on strictly?”

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Rose and Strictly for comment.

In the video Rose watched on It Takes Two, the actress received a heartfelt message from her mum Donna, who commended her daughter for being “so brave”.

Rose is making history as Strictly’s first ever deaf contestant and has raised a lot of awareness for the deaf community by making it all the way to the final.

Donna said: “As a little girl, she was always really happy, always laughing, never frightened of anything.

“The most brave person I know, actually. The thing that made me cry was her happiness.

“It just showed how proud she was of her deaf identity,” she concluded.

Rose’s brother Jacob said: “When I first found out about Rose on Strictly, I think – it was just absolutely mindblowing.

“To see her get the earliest 40 in Strictly history, it just summed up how hard she’s been working.

“She’s just powering through and saying to the public, I can do everything that anyone else can do if I’m given that opportunity.”

Rose’s grandfather Paul said that the star “never ceases to amaze” him, while her grandmother, Val, added: “Her Couple’s Choice dance was absolutely incredible. The emotion, when the music stopped, I was in tears.”

Her friends Nadeem and William also appeared to surprise Rose in the message, saying: “She’s so driven and she’s so ready to just go for it. She will change anything to make sure deaf people can strive.”

Tonight, Rose and Giovanni will perform a Quickstep to Love Is An Open Door from Disney’s Frozen, their couple’s choice dance to Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson, and a showdance to The Rose by Bette Midler.

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 7:10pm on BBC 1.
