Robin Williams’ family celebrated what would have been the actor’s 68th birthday on Sunday with a special event: the wedding of his son Cody.
Over the weekend, Cody, 27, married Maria Flores at his childhood home, People confirmed. The ceremony included a tribute to Robin, who died by suicide in August 2014, as well as other family members who have passed away.
“The 21st of July has meant many things to me over the years,” Robin’s daughter Zelda, 29, wrote Tuesday on Instagram. “It’s the birthday of one of my favorite souls still on this earth, @junotemple. It’s the day Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon (as a space nerd, that’s pretty damn important). And it was the day my Dad was born, and the last day I got to see him.
“That last one had begun to usurp the joy of the first two in recent years… that is, until two days ago, when it became something new. On the 21st of July, 2019, it became the day I officially gained a new sister!” she continued. “To @mariaaafloresssswilliams and Cody, you are a light in all of our lives.”
Zelda shared two images from the big day, including a snap with herself, Cody and Maria, and 36-year-old brother Zak, Robin’s first son with ex Valerie Velardi.
Cody and Zelda’s mother is Robin’s second wife, Marsha Garces, whom he split from in 2010. He later married Susan Schneider in 2011.
