Pixie Lott on halting Oliver Cheshire wedding plans during lockdown

Pixie Lott has been forced to put her wedding plans on hold due to coronavirus.

The Voice Kids judge announced her engagement to fiancé Oliver Cheshire back in 2016, and has been setting up their big day ever since.

The lovebirds were due to say their ‘I dos’ this year, but their nuptials are now ‘uncertain’ over lockdown rules.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk about their big day, the 29-year-old – who recently fronted Alpro’s oat drink campaign – told us: ‘Obviously it’s put on a bit of a [halt]. We’re still planning but there’s not much we can do until we know the rules for sure. It’s still uncertain.

‘I don’t really want do all this planning and take all this time to have a wedding where we’re going to social distance, or have a limited amount of people and compromise.

‘We just have to wait and see, after the uncertainty stops, and then we can go for it.’

The rules on weddings during lockdown were eased at the beginning of the month – meaning ceremonies with up to 30 guests can take place.

However, Pixie admitted this wouldn’t work for the couple, who have been dating since 2010, as they have big families.

Not to mention the 13 bridesmaids and five flower girls she has accumulated.

The Boys And Girls singer explained: ‘I know that the rules have come out that you’re allowed to have a wedding for 30 people, but that’s not going to work with how many people we’ve got, it’s too high. So we have to wait.

‘It’s because we’ve got quite big families and already the bridal party is quite big. We couldn’t really squeeze it down to 30, because I’ve got 13 bridesmaids and five flower girls.

‘So that’s already 18, then we’d only have 12 spaces left. We’ve got wait until it opens up a bit more.’

Pixie and Oliver have been dating for nearly a decade, after meeting at a fashion show in 2010.

Despite their wedding plans being up in the air, she revealed that she has ‘loved’ spending so much time with the model in isolation.

‘It’s been really nice to have quality time, because we haven’t ever been at home for this long,’ she said.

‘Usually we’re moving around and travelling, in different places. That’s definitely one of the positives that we’ve had so much time together. I’ve really loved that.

‘Obviously it’s a weird time for all of us, we didn’t see this 2020 coming at all! I guess I’ve just been trying to keep myself busy, doing stuff around the house. I’ve never actually been in my house for this long, ever in my life, with Olly.

‘We’ve enjoyed hanging the pictures up on the wall that have been on the floor for 10 years. We’ve cleared out the spare room, we’ve got a little outside space and we’ve sorted it out.’

Pixie made headlines as she recreated her iconic Make Mine Milk campaign, rocking an oat moustache to celebrate Alpro’s oat drink.

Lifting the lid on the project, she added: ‘It was really nostalgic, it was great to be doing the same thing but 10 years, but this time celebrating an oat drink. I’ve obviously switched it up from 10 years ago, and now it’s all about the oats.

‘So I’ve still got the moustache as you can see, but it’s now a moatstache, because we’re celebrating oats, and I love it. It’s fun, it’s cool that we’re doing it again 10 years on, but just better.

‘It’s an honour to be part of it, and it just makes so much sense. I love Alpro and I love making loads of nice oats. I have it every day with my latte.

‘It’s got the little cheeky nod to the campaign from 10 years ago, so yeah, I think it’s really fun!’

Anyone else very tempted to whack on a ‘moatstache’ for themselves?
