Louis Smith, 32, became the first winner of The Masked Dancer UK this evening as his character Carwash. After his big reveal, many fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts. One viewer joked he felt “cheated” by the retired gymnast’s clues he had given about himself during the series.

An ITV show viewer wrote: “I feel cheated that Louis used so many band references… how dare he. #MaskedDancerUK.”

Defending the winner, panellist Oti Mabuse replied: “He was in Rip It Up!”

The Twitter user responded: “Oh… okay… Guess I need your notepad love haha.”

Rip It Up was a dance show, in which Louis and his co-stars performed a string of hits from a variety of famous artists.

Revealing his clues over the past week, he told viewers: “I’m ready to soak up the excitement of the competition and I’m ready to let it shine.”

He also said he had joined members of girlbands and boybands.

In a further clue, Carwash added: “I feel more like home in front of a huge crowd, soaking up the atmosphere.”

After being unveiled as the winner this evening, Louis described the show as “bonkers”.

On keeping his identity under wraps, he told host Joel Dommett: “It was pretty easy keeping it a secret but was difficult not to tell my mum.

“They run a slick operation, everything is locked down.”

He added of taking part in the show: “I love the singer version, I love dancing and I love performing.”

Taking to his Instagram page after the show, the former Strictly star told fans he had a “fun time”.

“Literally had the most amazing and fun time dancing for you guys at home. @maskedsingeruk & @itv thank you for having me.”

“Honestly had so much fun. And reading all the twists and turns and guesses and narrowing down has been such a laugh,” he added.

It’s not the first time Louis has won victory on a show.

Back in 2012, he lifted the Glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing with his dance partner Flavia Cacace.

Louis battled for the win against his fellow contestants Kimberley Walsh, Denise Van Outen and Danni Harmer.

Elsewhere this evening, Bonnie Langford, Howard Donald and Tamsin Outhwaite were all unveiled as the remaining mystery celebrities.
