Nicole Kidman is attempting to heal rifts with the children she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise after she lost them to Scientology.
The Oscar-winner has little contact with her adopted children Isabella, 26, and Connor, 24, after they followed their dad in the religion.
But despite their separation, Nicole says she will always have ‘unconditional love’ for her eldest children.
The 52-year-old actress told The Sun: ‘Motherhood is about the journey. There are going to be incredible peaks and valleys, whether you are an adopting mother or a birth mother. What a child needs is love.
‘They have made choices to be Scientologists. It’s our job as a parent to always offer unconditional love.’
It was rumoured that Nicole was banned from attending her own son’s wedding to Silvia, who is also a follower of the Scientology church.
The Goldfinch actress also had minimal contact with Isabella, who now lives a low key life in Croydon, South London, with her husband.
Nicole married Tom – who is the most prominent member of the controversial church – in 1990 and the two stayed together until 2001.
Since then, their children chose to stay with Tom and within the faith.
Tom has always been an outspoken member of the church since getting involved with the faith through his first wife, Mimi Rogers, in 1990.
The Big Little Lies star has claimed that she has finally come to terms with her children’s lives and beliefs.
She continued: ‘It’s not about anything else other than, “I’m here to love and support you”.’
Nicole is now married to country singer Keith Urban and they share daughters Sunday Rose, 11, and Faith Margaret, eight, together.
The star met Mission: Impossible’s Tom whilst filming for Days of Thunder in 1989, but she now admits that she may have gotten married a little too young.
‘I was so young. I look back now and I’m like “What?” I had two kids by the time I was 27 and I’d been married for four years. But that’s what I wanted,’ she said.
The actor ‘swept her off her feet’ as she fell ‘madly, passionately in love’ with him.
‘And as happens, my whole plan in terms of what I wanted for my life, I was like, “Forget it. This is it”. I was consumed by it, willingly,’ she continued.
