Naga Munchetty reacted to a social media user’s harsh remark made on Twitter which took aim at the broadcaster. The 46-year-old was inundated with support as the BBC Breakfast presenter offered a swift comeback after she called out the viewer.

Naga took to the opportunity to defend herself online following the harsh criticism she received.

The person in question wrote: “Does anyone still listen to this awful woman?”

In view of her 255,000 followers, Naga retweeted the post as she questioned why they followed her on social media.

The Breakfast presenter fired back: “Do yourself a favour. Stop following this awful woman.X.”

Fans of the broadcaster rushed to offer their support to Naga, as one wrote: “Don’t let the haters get you down, Naga! We love you.”

Another urged: “Block him – who has the energy for such dislike?”

“Keep up your great work Naga and focus on the people who appreciate the work you do,” another penned.

While a fourth added: “Great response Naga!”

The Breakfast host later responded to another critic who made claims that the BBC should be defunded.

The person in question wrote: “The BBC’s idea of diversity is to replace a white feminist with a brown one. #DefundTheBBC #GBNews.”

Naga retweeted the post and wrote: “Aren’t you simply delightful? X.”

Last month, the Breakfast host was flooded with messages of support after a social media troll posted a “mean” insult online.

The broadcaster offered a sarcastic response to the social media user.

Naga penned: “Thanks for letting me know Guy,” and signed off the message with a kiss.

The BBC host has previously opened up about how she deals with the negative criticism she receives on social media.

Naga said: “People think that because you’re on the telly – particularly if you’re on the BBC and they’re paying a license fee – there’s some sense of ownership… which is lovely, but at the same time can be very intimidating.”

She added to the Gryphon: “You develop a thick skin over time. You learn to accept that you’re marmite… you’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but some people really like what you’re doing”.

The broadcaster also touched on diversity in media and explained that it had significantly improved from when she started out in her career.
