Fashion Designer Misha Nonoo has remained close with Meghan Markle, even after the actress married into the British royal family.
Earlier this week, Nonoo stepped out in London to help the duchess launch The Smart Set, a capsule work wear collection consisting of five items (one of which was designed by Nonoo). For every sale, an item will be donated to the charity Smart Works, to benefit a woman in need who is attending an interview or returning to work.
And in an interview with The Today Show promoting the collection, Nonoo discussed her close friendship with Meghan. She explained, “I think that is something that her and I bonded over from the very early days of our relationship was that she genuinely seeks to help people.” The designer continued, “It comes from a place deep within her where she really wants to make people’s lives better.”
As for the intense criticism the Duchess of Sussex has faced, Nonoo said, “I think it’s unjust, and I think that people should really focus on the good work they do.”
Nonoo even opened up about the duchess’s forthcoming royal tour of Southern Africa. She revealed, “When she goes to Africa with Prince Harry and their new little one, she is going to do some events there on empowering women.” The designer confirmed, “She’s really interested in empowering women around the world.”
