Louise Minchin took to social media last night to congratulate Nina Warhurst for landing a top job on the BBC Breakfast team. The 52-year-old presenter addressed the news after Editor Richard Frediani revealed the journalist had been appointed the new business presenter on the show.
“Great news and congratulations to the brilliant @NinaWarhurst fantastic to have you permanently on the team,” she wrote online in view of her 193,900 Twitter followers.
Her post included the original tweet from Richard, who announced the news.
It read: “Delighted to permanently appoint @NinaWarhurst to the team at @BBCBreakfast.
“A talented, award winning journalist adding to our growing reputation for original and exclusive stories.”
Nina, who had previously worked for BBC News and BBC Sport, has made regular appearances on BBC Breakfast since 2018.
She is set to start her new position immediately, with an alarm set for 4am today.
The new presenter said she was “so excited” to formally join the BBC Breakfast team, as it was a programme she had grown up watching.
She went on to say: “This is an incredibly challenging period for our audiences and I look forward to delivering news on our economy in a way that is clear and inclusive.”

Last night, Nina took to the micro-blogging site to thank everyone for their kind messages, telling fans it was a “dream come true.”
