Birds of a Feather: Lesley Joseph says Quirke was 'missed'
Lesley Joseph, who played Dorien Green in the popular British sitcom Birds of a Feather, has revealed she turned to yoga after becoming unwell. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant said she was inspired by her late mum Vicky, who played tennis into her 90s.
The 75-year-old explained that she had been isolating at home for weeks after the UK went into lockdown earlier this year.
The small-screen star revealed she turned to yoga in a bid to keep herself fit and maintain her mental health.
Lesley said she became concerned after falling ill and thought sport would help her to calm down.
Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women in June, Lesley said: “Over the last eight years, I’ve realised how much I love yoga.

“And there was one time in this lockdown when I didn’t feel very well and I was nervous I might have it.”
She went on: “I just did my yoga breathing I put my music on – and it wasn’t [coronavirus], it was just something else – and breathed deeply, and that’s really been amazing to keep me centred and focused.”
At the time of the broadcast, Lesley was reunited with her Birds of a Feather co-star and Loose Women panellist Linda Robson.
Meanwhile, Lesley was due to appear in the two-week run of Mayflower Theatre’s Sleeping Beauty this Christmas.
However, the pantomime has since been cancelled due to the rising levels of coronavirus.
Sleeping Beauty, starring comedian Joe Pasquale and actress Lesley, had been due to run at the venue until January.
The theatre said it took the decision to end the run early after “news of increased transmissibility of coronavirus in the south”.
Michael Ockwell, chief executive of the theatre, said it was “very sad news”.

“Unfortunately we’ve had a couple of members of the cast who have been indisposed,” he said.
“That has meant therefore that we can’t do the full socially distanced show, but also with the rising rates of coronavirus rates in the south we feel the sensible way forward is to cancel the rest of the run.
“We appreciate this is really disappointing news for everybody but we have to put the health and safety of our company and our staff first.”
Elsewhere, Lesley will reprise her role in Birds of a Feather for a one-off Christmas special.
She will be joined by fellow co-star Linda (who played Tracy Stubbs) but Pauline – who played Sharon Theodopolopodous in the long-running sitcom – opted against appearing in the show.
Lesley admitted it was “strange” not having Pauline in the show but is thrilled the sitcom is back.
She said: “I think we’ve got too much love for them really. So Linda and I needed to carry on with Tracy and Dorien really.
“But I think there’s a lot of life in the old girls yet, to be honest, I think we’re still alive and kicking. It’s a very funny episode.”
Birds of a Feather Christmas Special airs tonight on ITV at 9:15pm.
