Katie Price given two-year driving ban after Range Rover crash

Katie Price has received another driving ban after failing to tell the police who was driving her car when it crashed last year.

The former Loose Women host received a two-year driving ban related to the incident involving her Range Rover in October 2018.

According to SWNS, she was not present in court.

Her solicitors sought to adjourn the hearing to another date, which had already been moved from August and in a statement read to the court by the clerk, Price’s solicitors said: ‘She has been out of the country.

‘She is returning on the morning of the hearing. We ask for the hearing to be adjourned to another date. No-one will be inconvenienced as witnesses will not need to be called as a result of the guilty plea.’

But Geraldine Dickinson, prosecuting, urged the court to carry on with the matter in Price’s absence.

‘Her solicitors knew about this date and knew about her whereabouts and that she’s be returning to Gatwick this morning. Even if she came back at 9am, she could have made an appearance at this court today,’ they said.

District Judge Robert Hunter said: ‘This hearing has already been adjourned once. This date was agreed by both sides. I am not inclined to further adjourn this matter.’

He added: ‘I am imposing another six points, which amounts to a disqualification of two years to the license. I am also imposing a fine of £440, a surcharge of £44 and prosecution costs of £100 to be paid in 28 days.’

Katie, 41, was cleared of drink driving at a court appearance in February but was guilty of a separate charge of being drunk in charge of a vehicle.

The My Crazy Life star received a three-month ban plus a fine of £1,500 and a victim surcharge to a total of £2,425.

During the trial, Katie claimed she was not driving the car at the time and said the man behind the wheel was a friend of her ex-boyfriend Kris Boyson.

The reality star claimed the unidentified man ran away and told Katie and Kris to ‘shut up’ when asked by the police who was driving.

When police officers arrived on the scene, Katie – who was found sitting in the back of her famous pink Range Rover – was almost twice over the legal limit when she was arrested.

She had spent the night celebrating Kris’ 30th birthday.

After entering a guilty plea related to the crash, Katie wrote in a letter that was read out at Bromley Magistrates Court: ‘Back in October my mental health was seriously affected. I sought help from a rehab centre for PTSD.

‘During this time I wasn’t in control of my work, property or mail or in general.

‘I am now in a clearer mindset and tackling my issues and getting back on my feet.

‘I wasn’t driving at the time. I plead guilty.’
