Kate Garraway: Derek ‘may never come out’ of coma says Piers
Kate Garraway, 53, appeared to be shocked after her Good Morning Britain co-star Adil Ray, 46, praised her in a new interview. The TV anchor branded the radio presenter an “inspiration”, after facing several difficulties this past year.
The GMB host’s husband Derek Draper remains in hospital after being admitted in March 2020 for Covid-19.
Kate’s husband has suffered further health complications, including holes in his lungs and diabetes.
Adil has since gone onto praise his co-star, as the presenter opened up about Kate’s struggles.
The TV host explained that working with Kate was “inspiring” and added “she’s so special”.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the GMB host reacted to Adil’s heart-warming words as she shared a screenshot of his interview.
In view of her 972,000 followers, Kate exclaimed: “Blimey – thanks @adilray. Right back atcha!!”
Speaking about his colleague’s family ups and downs, Adil said: “Kate’s had such a difficult past 12 months and it’s been so tough for her.
“But being with her in the studio during this time is really inspiring.”
“She can dust herself down, look fantastic, get in front of the cameras and be utterly brilliant when we know what she’s going through,” Adil continued to OK! magazine.
He added: “She inspires so many.”
It comes after Kate revealed she will release her new book, The Power of Hope, detailing her family struggles.
She shares two children Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11 with her second husband, whom she married in 2005.

The broadcaster today took to Instagram and shared a family update, as her son enjoyed some down time.
Kate revealed that they were having “so much fun” that she had delayed posting the clip.
She shared: “Sliding into Tuesday like…! Hey I know I am late on the #snow pics but we were having too much fun in it to post it!
“Still pretty slippy out there so if you’re not 11 & bouncy like Billy – take care!”
Last week, Kate explained that her spouse Derek is “still ravaged by the effects of coronavirus” after suffering major complications.
Piers Morgan later gave an update on Derek’s condition during an interview with coronavirus vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi on GMB today.
Speaking on the situation, he said: “We know from our colleague Kate Garraway whose husband Derek is still in a coma from Covid.
“He may never come out of that coma she’s been told this and it’s heart-breaking.”
Kate said during an interview on GMB last week that Derek’s recovery is “incredibly uncertain”.
