Jesy Nelson has revealed she no longer speaks to her former Little Mix bandmates as there "needs to be some distance".

The 30 year old, who recently admitted feeling "trapped" and "drained" being compared to her co-stars, explained that while Leigh-Anne Pinnock, also 30, Perrie Edwards, 28, and Jade Thirlwall, 28, are her "sisters", there hasn't been much of a dialogue between them since December 2020.

"'I haven't spoken to the girls," she explained to Glamour magazine. "It is weird because for so many years we were as close as sisters, together every hour of the day for weeks, sharing beds, laughing, crying just 24/7 the four of us together and then… Nothing."

Since leaving the girl group, Jesy has been hard at work to create solo music and is set to release a collaborative song with Nicki Minaj, called Boyz.

Meanwhile Leigh-Anne has welcomed twins with her fiancé Andre Gray and Perrie has given birth to a baby boy, who she shares with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

When asked if she's met the youngsters, she replied: "No. I've sent a few texts, but that's it. I can't explain it, it's like there has to be this distance…"

Jesy added: "We were so close so you can't do in-between, there has to be space and hopefully… Hopefully at some point in the future we can all come back together.

"I love them. They are my sisters in so many ways, but for the time being we just don't talk."

Brunette beauty Jesy has been quite vocal about her time in the band in recent weeks, confessing she was "unhappy" for 10 years.

Speaking in the latest episode of Reign With Josh Smith, she explained: “I don’t think people realise how hard it is to be in a girl band.

"There’s a lot that comes with it that people don’t know about. And obviously I don’t get to make my own decisions. Three people have to agree as well, so there would always be disagreements on certain things.”

Jesy, who recently opened up on her "unhealthy" love life as she admitted she falls for "bad boys", went on to discuss how the public views her since she left the band.

She said: “I feel a lot of people think that it’s selfish I’ve left the group. I really didn’t want to upset people and I didn’t want people to think that about me, but I don’t care any more."

Explaining that she had to step away for her own wellbeing, the star continued: “It was 10 years of my life that I was very unhappy with and I needed to take myself out of that and genuinely do what’s going to make me happy.

“Some people may not understand that, but you live once and you have to do what makes you happy."
