Janette Manrara, who fronts the Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two, has encouraged on-screen chemistry between her husband Aljaz Skorjanec and his dance partner Sara Davies. However, the 37-year-old warned that the dancefloor is where it ends.
Dragons’ Den star Sara, 37, revealed in a new interview that the Strictly host urged her to build on-screen chemistry with Aljaz, 31.
“Janette gave me a right talking to about it,” Sara explained during a recent episode of It Takes Two.
“She said, ‘Look Sara, you’re going to have to look into his eyes and imagine that my husband is actually your husband and imagine it’s Simon and dance it like it’s him’.
“She said, ‘I’m good with it, Simon is good with it, you have to be good with it’.'”
Janette has now addressed her previous comments and explained she meant nothing more than improving their performance.
Speaking to the Daily Star at Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, the pro dancer admitted it’s important to convey emotion on-screen.
“Yes, you are doing the rumba, so she has to look at him like he’s her own husband, they’re telling a love story, and that song means a lot to her and it always reminds her of her husband,” Janette explained.
“I told her, ‘For the dance, you need to take him, he’s yours’. And they did really well.”
Janette said she was far from concerned, as she continued: “What are you trying to get at?!
“He is his own human being – I am his wife and he is my husband and I am very pleased to see them doing so well.”
Janette was referring to the dancing duo’s Rumba last month where the performed to Shania Twain’s You’re Still the One.
Meanwhile, Strictly contestant Sara thanked her husband Simon for his support after she finished bottom of the leaderboard last Saturday night.
She was hoping to impress the judges alongside Aljaz with their Game of Thrones inspired Couple’s Choice routine to Whitney Houston track Queen of the Night.

But the dancing duo didn’t wow as the pair scored 23 points out of 40.
Her partner Aljaz apologised following their performance as he took full responsibility.
Looking crestfallen by the judges’ scores over their Couple’s Choice routine, he commented: “I’m going to take the full blame for this because it was Couple’s Choice, so I will take the full blame.
“It’s nothing to do with Sara Davies… sorry about that.”
Gutted by the score, the Dragons’ Den star took to Instagram on Sunday morning and thanked her other half.
Posting a picture of them both, Sara wrote: “Was so glad to have Simon down with me last night for support after those pretty harsh judges comments and scores and finding myself back at the bottom of the leaderboard (again!)
“So good that he was on hand for lots of cuddles after the show! #hubbylove (and don’t worry he had plenty of hugs for my work husband too as he was pretty cut up as well.”
Sara will return to the dancefloor on Saturday night after Judi Love bid farewell, after being voted out of the competition.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 6.45pm.
