Holly Willoughby shares behind-the-scenes snaps from the Platinum Jubilee Pageant: Day of dreams!’

TV presenter Holly Willoughby has shared a series of behind the scenes snaps from Sunday’s once in a lifetime Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

The exciting event was the culmination of four days worth of events to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which celebrates her momentous 70 years on the throne.

Describing the occasion as a “day of dreams,” Holly shared several snaps from behind the scenes of the elaborate finale on Instagram.

Dressed in a chic blue floral dress with halter neck detail, the This Morning presenter posed with her trademark smile outside the gates of Buckingham Palace ahead of the start of proceedings on Sunday afternoon.

Completing her look, Holly opted for a pair of classic teardrop earrings and a natural makeup look featuring an elegant pink lip as she shared a photo of her riding in an open-top bus alongside an eagerly awaiting crowd of thousands.

Captioning the images, the Dancing on Ice presenter wrote: "Day of dreams…. Happy Happy Platinum Jubilee your Majesty… we LOVE you".

The ITV star appeared to be loving every minute, with several photos even featuring Holly posing with her fellow showbiz pals who had all arrived at the pageant to celebrate Her Majesty’s long and enduring reign before boarding a bus that was part of the ensuing procession.

The Queen herself even delighted royal fans on Sunday as she made a surprise appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the end of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

The 96 year old monarch was forced to withdraw from any engagements over the weekend after suffering from some "discomfort" on Thursday during the Trooping of the Colour ceremony.

This lead to the Queen pulling out of Friday’s service at St. Paul’s Cathedral as well as the Epsom Derby.

Yet much to the delight of royal fans everywhere, Her Majesty came out to the balcony after The Royal Standard was raised above Buckingham Palace on Sunday, signalling that the Queen was in residence.

Listening to a rendition of the National Anthem by thousands of fans in attendance, the Queen, who wore a green ensemble, smiled brightly for the crowds as she waved to onlookers.

Her Majesty was joined by the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on the balcony.

Following her balcony appearance, the Queen shared a sweet and poignant message of gratitude with fans and well wishers on social media.

Posting on the official Royal Family Twitter account, she wrote: “When it comes to how to mark seventy years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.

“While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family.

“I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope tis renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come.

“I thank you most sincerely for your good wishes and for the part you have all played in these happy celebrations.”
