Helen Flanagan has opened up about suffering a “bad fall” just days before she went into labour with her baby son Charlie.

The ordeal occurred five days before she had Charlie, who is now three months old, and Helen has exclusively told OK! that the incident left her feeling “worried”.

“Five days before my due date I’d had a bad fall and had to go to hospital,” Helen, who is also mum to daughters Matilda, six, and Delilah, three, told us.

“I didn’t want to mention it on social media because I was a bit anxious anyway. My mum was watching Delilah while I went to the physio as I’ve had a bad back, and when I opened my mum’s front door Delilah ran out.

“My mum lives on a busy road so I grabbed Delilah but I had sandals on and went flying, and landed badly on my coccyx.”

As to whether she injured herself, the Coronation Street actress continued: “I badly bruised my coccyx. I was a bit worried about it.

"When I went to hospital after the fall they asked me if I wanted to be induced but I chose not to as I thought it would be easier to give birth naturally.”

The 30 year old, who is engaged to Preston North End footballer Scott Sinclair, said that the fall left her in so much pain that she was unable to give birth on her back.

“In the end I had to give birth on my side because I couldn’t lie on my back because it was so painful. Thankfully Scott was an amazing birthing partner,” she added.

Helen and Scott welcomed Charlie Scott Sinclair into the world on March 25, the same day as Scott’s birthday.

Announcing the news on her Instagram, Helen wrote: “Our baby boy Charlie was born on Thursday on Scott’s birthday. I was two days overdue like I was with Delilah.

“We are in such a love bubble we couldn’t be more in love with our beautiful little boy, we can not stop staring at him. The girls just love him so much.”

Explaining the decision behind making his middle name the same as his father’s, Helen told us: “Scott said for ages, ‘I really want him to be born on my birthday,’ and I said, ‘If we have a boy and he’s born on your birthday his middle name can be Scott.’

"I didn’t think that was likely to happen and then it did!" she added.

“It was so special and he looks just like his dad. I literally feel like I have a mini Scott with me the whole time.”
