Gemma Atkinson, 35, has clarified that she didn’t break any lockdown rules after showing off her hair transformation in view of her 1.5 million Instagram followers. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant showed before and after snaps after fans quizzed her on her lighter blonde locks.

She wrote: “Lots of DMs asking about my blonde this time around.

“I wanted to go lighter as my roots were just insane.

“I was recommended @emilyrosemonkhair as she specialises in blonde hair.”

However, Gorka Marquez’s girlfriend then unfortunately faced backlash from some of her followers, who accused her of getting her hair done during the coronavirus lockdown.

Hairdressers and barbers across England have been forced to close once again after Prime Minister Boris Johnson plunged the country into a second lockdown, which is set to end on December 2nd.

After spotting some negative comments, Gemma pointed out that the photos she shared from the hair salon were old and taken before lockdown started.

She hit back: “FYI. My hair wasn’t done in lockdown.

“To those kicking off with me it was done on the 29th Oct and I posted the same pics that day!

“Emily is back working after lockdown and my next appointment is Dec. Calm your t*ts.”

Gemma’s post comes after she surprised her beau Gorka with a sweet video message, as they spend time apart after he formed a “bubble” with his Strictly 2020 partner Maisie Smith.

The former Emmerdale actress’ clip was shown on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two last night and prompted an emotional reaction from Gorka.

In the video, Gemma told her partner: “You are doing so well.

“I am so proud of you, we are so proud of you.”

The couple’s one-year-old daughter Mia could be seen dancing as she stood next to Gemma, as the former contestant continued: “She is dancing, she is off.

“She is off. Can’t wait to see you and give you a big squeeze, we love you so much, you did incredible last weekend and we can’t wait to see you.”

As Gemma encouraged Mia: “Say, go on Papa,” Gorka could be seen wiping tears from his eyes.

EastEnders star Maisie gave the dancer a hug to comfort him as he told host Gethin Jones: “You can’t do that.”

“I know how much you are missing the girls,” the presenter remarked.

Strictly has implemented several new measures to ensure filming could continue safely this series, including regular testing and placing the contestants in separate “bubbles” so they can train and perform together.

The 2020 series has also been the first to air without a live audience after England was placed into a month-long lockdown.
