Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton is auctioning off two of his personal guitars to benefit his Crossroads Center Antigua rehab center.
Of the two guitars available, the first one is the #3 Prototype for the Gibson 1964 Limited-Edition Reissue of his famous Firebird. The guitar was made using authentic construction methods and precise dimensions scanned from 1964 Firebird models. It also features a replica of the guitar strap Eric used with the guitar, a replica of the original case and more.
The second instrument from Eric’s personal collection is the 50th Anniversary Blind Faith Fender Telecaster. This guitar is a recreation, modified with a Stratocaster Neck, as used by Eric at the Blind Faith show in Hyde Park, London on June 7, 1969.
Bidding for the guitars is underway at bidpal.net/xroads or by texting xroads to 243725 and ends on September 20.
Meanwhile, the 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival will be held September 20 and 21 at American Airlines Center in Dallas.
The event will feature Clapton performing on both dates, along with a lineup that includes Billy Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh, Jeff Beck, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, Albert Lee, Gary Clark Jr., Jonny Lang, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Robert Randolph, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Vince Gill.
Proceeds from the festival also will benefit Crossroads Center Antigua.
