Emma Raducanu, 19, has spoken up about her relationship with fellow sports star Lewis Hamilton. The young tennis player has said that the driver has been helpful in giving the budding sportswoman advice.

He’s just been really cool in helping me

The F1 driver has been supportive of her since her US Open victory.

Emma also admitted she has been a fan of Lewis since she competed in motorsports in her youth.

She said: “He’s just been really cool in helping me.

“He said: ‘Be patient, you’ve just got to ride the wave. It’s all good. Don’t worry.’

“Good reassurance. He’s a really cool guy.”

The star also admitted she thought he would win the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year award.

The Tennis star has said that she doesn’t “even think about it.”

“For me, it’s something that’s so far out of the realms of possibility that I just don’t even understand how it could be a possibility,” said Emma, discussing the award.

However, Lewis was recently snubbed in this year’s line-up for the award.

He was not amongst the sports stars announced earlier this week following his loss of the World Championship Title.

Emma is instead up against Tom Daley, Raheem Sterling, Sarah Storey, Adam Peaty and Tyson Fury.

Emma recently defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse in a Champions Tennis exhibition match at Royal Albert Hall.

This was the first time that the star played in front of a British crowd since being made US Champion in September.

Lewis isn’t the only celebrity that Emma looks up to.

Recently, she spoke out about her favourite member of the Royal Family.

Attention from the Royal Family came after Emma beat Leylah Fernandez in September.

The Queen sent the tennis star a congratulatory message following her victory.

But speaking to People magazine earlier this month, she revealed that she looked up to Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge.

“I think the Duchess is such a great inspiration, just with how she handles everything and how she does so much good work for charities. She’s a real inspiration to the whole country,” she said.

Kate also joined Emma for a game of tennis.

“It was a pretty surreal experience to be playing tennis with the Duchess.

“It was kind of crazy, but she was really down to earth and normal. So I found it a really cool experience.”
