We’re 32 days out from a wildly consequential presidential election and that fact has informed almost everyone’s social media feeds. The prevailing message is “Vote!” — everyone, whether you’ve been volunteering on campaigns for years or a photo of Kylie Jenner in a bikini inspired you to register just this week.
Chris Pratt wants you to vote, too … for his movie … to win a PEOPLE’S! CHOICE! AWARD! Yes, the 41-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy star took to Instagram on Friday, less than 12 hours after Donald Trump tweeted his COVID-19 diagnosis, and joked about the election, writing, “With all that’s going on in the world it is more important than ever that you vote. Just ask any celebrity. They will tell you. Every day. Several times a day. To vote. But me? I will tell you EXACTLY who to vote for.”
And who’s that? His Pixar film, Onward. “The heroes before us did not spill their blood only to have their sacrifices wasted by your apathy,” he continued. “The upcoming 2020 People’s Choice Awards is the most consequential vote in the history of mankind times a million infinity. Vote for #Onward for family movie of the year. Or else. You WILL die. No hyperbole. Click the link in my bio. Let your voice be heard.”
It goes without saying, Twitter did not take kindly to Pratt’s glib post. In fact, it appears his standing in the unofficial Hollywood Chris ranking has taken an irreparable hit.
On the other hand, Pratt’s wife Katherine Schwarzenegger encouraged her own followers to vote (in the election) just over a week ago.
