Former James Bond star Britt Ekland has spoken of her decision to undergo cosmetic procedures. The 78-year-old revealed that she no longer desires to change her appearance but instead regrets her enhancements.
I have no desire to look any different than I am.
Actress Britt has spoken about her cosmetic enhancements that completely altered her face.
The star, who found fame overnight following her marriage to Peter Sellers, was treated by a Paris-based doctor, following a consultancy with a Harley Street medical expert.
Rather than discreet and moderate treatment, Britt recalls the doctor injecting her in several places around her lips with Articol, which she claims he said was a “new dental material”.
Articol is a form of bovine collagen that was used for a short period of time as a filler and lip enhancer in the Nineties.
Now, Britt describes her decision as “the biggest mistake” of her life and will not undergo any more procedures.
In a new interview, she said: “Everyone has the right to choose [surgery], I did all of that in my 50s but wouldn’t consider it again, I have no desire to look any different than I am.”
She went on to tell Platinum magazine: “I feel great now, better than I have for many years… getting older happens to everyone, it’s pointless complaining about it or wishing you could change.
“We’re all going in one direction and there is nothing we can do about that. It’s just about looking after yourself while on that journey.”
For two decades, the Swedish-born actress endured “excruciatingly painful” injections in a bid to “melt” the Articol.
Britt eventually made an appointment with another doctor to “take it all out” and told the Loose Women panel that she regretted her procedures.
She said: “It destroyed my looks and ruined my face, it was the biggest mistake of my life.
“When I look at photographs of myself before I had it done, I looked very good, I can see that now, but I couldn’t see it at the time.”
Last year, The Man with the Golden Gun star admitted that she stopped having surgery as it wasn’t helping her land more roles.
During an episode of Good Morning Britain, she said: “It’s not going to give me more roles to make me look better.
“This is who I am and people have to accept it, I’ve accepted it, you accept it!”
Speaking of her decision to endure lip enhancements, Britt said: “I wanted my lips to puff out a bit, but it turned out to be a disaster.”
The actress said: “I looked like a pie where the crust comes up.”
Britt previously admitted that she believes it’s “tragic” that women feel the need to undergo procedures due to pressure from social media.
“I think it’s tragic because the one time you really look good is before you’re 25,” she said.
She went on to add: “Everyone is altering themselves so they all look older and older and older.
“And by the time they’re 25 they look 35, It’s very sad, I’ve of course played around with plastic surgery but I was after 50 when I did.”
