Auli’i Cravalho is speaking out about the Reopen Hawaii Protest that happened over the weekend in Honolulu and condemning the residents who participated.
The 19-year-old Native Hawaiian and Moana star took to social media after watching the video of the protest.
“Not a single Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) to be seen,” Auli’i wrote on her account in response to the video of locals protesting the state’s new order to stay and work at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Auli’i added later on, “My thoughts haven’t left the multi generational households. The young and able need to protect the old. Protect our kupuna!!!”
Kapuna mean grandparents or ancestors.
Hawaii has reported around 8,450 confirmed cases of the virus, with almost 200 new ones just today (September 1).
Auli’i can now be seen in Netflix’s All Together Now, streaming now.
