Amber Riley performed a moving tribute for her late friend and Glee co-star Naya Rivera on the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The 34-year-old actress, who played Mercedes Jones on the Fox series, performed a new song called “A Moment,” which was seemingly written about Naya‘s tragic death.
“Everybody thinks I’m OK but nobody know the way I’m really feeling,” Amber sings in the song. “I’m ready to fight, I’m ready to see what’s on the other side. I’m ready to cry and just let it be … I don’t have much pride, I put that aside. Get back to me.”
The episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live was hosted by Lil Rel Howery and he talked about the loss while introducing the singer, who went by her new stage name Riley.
“We both lost an amazing friend in a tragic accident and we both will miss her forever,” he said.
Lil Rel further discussed the performance on Twitter by saying, “Quick backstory the musical guest on this show backed out and I called them and asked if we can do this tribute and let Amber kill it the Kimmel team said yes!!! Thank You!!!”
Riley has a self-titled EP being released on October 2.
