On March 30, 2023, former President Donald Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury as part of his hush money case with adult film star Stormy Daniels, which allegedly went down before the 2016 presidential election. He is the first former president to face criminal charges, although those exact charges are not immediately clear. The indictment comes nearly two weeks after the former POTUS said he would be arrested. (He claimed his arrest date would be March 21.) After the indictment, Trump told ABC News the indictment is “an attack on our country.” He called it a “political persecution,” adding, “they are trying to impact an election.”
