TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé and it’s many spin-off shows follow the lives of international couples who travel far and make big sacrifices to be together. But just because these couples go to great efforts for their relationships doesn’t mean that their romances will work out. In fact, many 90 Day Fiancé couples are infamous for being incompatible and completely miserable together. From dramatic incidents involving keyed cars, screaming matches, and even physical violence, it’s a wonder some of these couples ever got together in the first place.
However, not every 90 Day Fiancé couple is that bad. In fact, some pairs show that it’s possible to go through the 90-day engagement and come out stronger on the other side. These couples work through roadblocks, surviving family drama, culture shock, and the stress of planning a wedding in just three months. They respect each other, laugh together, and become fan favorites. It all depends on the people in those relationships.
Here are the best and the worst 90 Day Fiancé couples of all time.
Best: Amy and Danny proved love conquers all on 90 Day Fiance
When it comes to “good” 90 Day Fiancé couples, the bar is usually set pretty low. Usually if a couple stays together and doesn’t end up getting arrested, they’re marked as a winner. But Amy and Danny defy 90 Day Fiancé tradition with a relationship based in trust, love, and respect. Like, what are these two even doing on reality TV?
South African Amy moved to Pennsylvania to be with Danny in Season 2. The only serious challenge the couple faced was the fact that Danny’s father appeared to have a problem with interracial marriage. But, by the time the couple appeared on the Season 2 tell-all episode (via The Wrap), Danny’s father had apparently changed his mind and Amy’s relationship with her father-in-law was improving. “I never hated him for responding in that way,” Amy said, “and I think the way we responded was just that: ‘You know what, we can be the ones to teach you that something is different.'”
Danny and Amy are still together as of this writing and are busy raising two adorable children.
Worst: 90 Day Fiance's Mohamed and Danielle were mismatched from the start
Season 2’s Mohamed and Danielle had an unhealthy relationship from the very beginning. With Danielle’s awkward habit of hanging all over Mohamed and Mohamed’s not-so-veiled repulsion of her, it’s no wonder things went south so soon after the wedding. Eventually, he left Danielle’s Ohio home, and, though Danielle went looking for him, Mohamed was long gone.
While these two made a terrible couple, they made for even worse exes. Mohamed complained about their sex life and Danielle obsessed over Mohamed’s alleged relationships with other women (via InTouch). One of their worst fights involved Danielle confronting Mohamed in Miami where she screamed, “You’re a user, Mohamed. You used me,” and threw a pile of documents (her collection of his photos and conversations with other women) at him.
Danielle went back and forth about whether or not to grant Mohamed a divorce or to get an annulment, which would result in Mohamed potentially being deported. Eventually, they settled on a divorce, and finally one of the worst 90 Day Fiancé relationships of all time reached an end.
Best: Jon and Rachel sang their way to marital bliss on 90 Day Fiance
When Rachel and Jon first appeared in Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, viewers were nervous. Rachel was a single mother who’d fallen in love with a man she’d met on a karaoke app, and Jon was a mysterious man with a violent criminal record (via InTouch). Rachel knew she was taking a huge risk by traveling to England with her baby to meet Jon — but she did it anyway.
Thankfully, Jon ended up being nothing but a big teddy bear. He’d been in fights but had since changed his ways. After that was all cleared up and he gained Rachel’s trust, there was little left to do but watch Jon’s tear-jerking proposal, and, later, their beautiful garden wedding. These days, the two are still working on getting Jon to the United States (he still has that pesky criminal record, after all), but, with their chemistry and the sweet way they’ve treated each other, Rachel and Jon seem destined to be together.
Worst: Darcy and Jesse's relationship was toxic on 90 Day Fiance
Darcey and her Dutch boyfriend Jesse first appeared on Season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, and it didn’t take long for them to get a reputation for being one of the most explosive couples in the show’s history (via People). Darcey was sweet but overly sensitive and Jesse was immature and erratic. The almost 20-year age difference didn’t help, no doubt. Every episode seemed to have a blow-up or a meltdown from either Darcey or Jesse, and the two appeared to constantly fight.
There was the issue of Darcey’s drinking, the ongoing argument about whether or not Darcey threw a shoe at Jesse, and countless passive aggressive fights. One memorable argument started after Darcey wouldn’t let Jesse prepare dinner the way he wanted to, to which Darcey’s teenager Aniko finally said, “Both of you guys are acting like you’re my age. Just grow up please.”
Thankfully, this couple eventually split up (via Us Weekly).
Best: 90 Day Fiance's Loren and Alexei are in it for the long haul
During the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 2 tell-all episode, Loren called out fellow 90 Day Fiancé couples Mohamed and Danielle and Anfisa and Jorge for making her relationship — and the K-1 visa process — look bad. “It’s embarrassing being associated with them,” she said, pointing out that she and Alexei were really in love. She added, “People go through this process for the wrong reasons.”
It might have been an awkward moment during the episode, but maybe Loren had a good point. While other couples were getting violent with each other, avoiding each other, and stirring up rumors of fraudulent marriages, she and her Israeli husband, Alexei, seemed refreshingly normal. Their biggest issues involved an argument about Loren going to a strip club for her bachelorette party, drama while taking wedding photos, and Loren’s insecurities with her Tourette syndrome, but they were able to overcome all that. The two later appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk, and they are still married and look to be very happy together.
Worst: 90 Day Fiance's Molly and Luis were an explosive combination
Molly met Luis when she was on vacation in the Dominican Republic (via InTouch). In Season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé, Luis moved into Molly’s home with her two daughters. However, there were some issues. Molly’s oldest daughter, Olivia, didn’t like Luis, and the rest of Molly’s family didn’t trust him. When talking about Luis, Molly’s father even said, “She doesn’t make the best decisions.” As time went on, Molly’s family was proved right.
The two had a complicated relationship and had a lot of strange arguments, such as the time Luis insulted Molly’s bedroom decor. By the end of the season, things weren’t looking great for the couple. It seemed like they wouldn’t get married by the end of the 90 days, but then Molly dropped a bombshell, confessing that she was already married to Luis. The two returned — still married — for 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 3, but, after one especially explosive fight, which ended with Luis threatening to call the police, Molly declared, “I 100 percent do not want to be married to this man anymore.” Soon after, they filed for divorce.
Best: Kirlyam and Alan showed 90 Day Fiance they were meant to be
Never was there a cuter duo on 90 Day Fiancé than Alan and Kirlyam. Alan was a sweet, mild-mannered Californian who fell in love with Brazilian beauty Kirlyam while on a mission trip. From the beginning, they seemed so in love and their sweetness with each other was simply adorable. The way they interacted — whether they were shopping for clothes or playing charades with Alan’s parents — was always the cutest.
The only real issue for these two during their 90 days was their commitment to wait until marriage to have sex. On their wedding day, Alan awkwardly shared with TLC cameras, “We’ve waited so long to be together and tonight the wedding’s over, so we can do what married people do.”
Viewers caught up with this duo again in 90 Day Fiancé: What Now. In the episodes, Kirlyam and Alan announced that they were expecting. They soon navigated pregnancy and enjoyed the early phases of parenting together. These two are, of course, still an item and are raising a little boy named Liam.
Worst: Jorge and Anfisa argued nonstop on 90 Day Fiance
Jorge and Anfisa always stood out from the rest of the 90 Day Fiancé pack. For one thing, Anfisa didn’t try to hide the fact that she was interested in marrying Jorge for his money (via InTouch), though there’s something to be said for her honesty and her directness was refreshing. Meanwhile, her fiancé (and later husband), Jorge, lied to her big time. He knew that she was interested in him — at least, in part — for his money, and he had the audacity to call her “childish” when he told her that he lied about being rich. “What’s childish is your lie,” Anfisa clapped back.
But that lie wasn’t even half of their troubles. Their relationship went from unsteady to chaotic when Anfisa started to rebel, keying “idiot” into Jorge’s car, kicking him out of their apartment, and even slapping him. Despite all they went through, these two are somehow still together these days. Anfisa is even sticking by Jorge as he serves time behind bars for his infamous marijuana bust in Arizona (via TMZ).
Best: 90 Day Fiance's Paola and Russ fully accepted one another
Buttoned-up, conservative Russ and saucy Paola didn’t have an easy time on 90 Day Fiancé Season 1 and 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Seasons 1 through 4. They’ve had tough times and big conflicts, and, at some points, they might have seemed too different to be able to make a marriage work. There were issues involving what Russ thought about Paola’s modeling career, drama with Paola’s friend Juan, and disagreements about where they would live. Still, what made these two so great together was how they worked through the issues and found happiness.
For example, in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Russ had a hard time accepting Paola’s desire to move to Miami and even questioned her career choices (like those topless beach photos). Over time, however, he started to break free from his conservative upbringing, supporting her career more and even agreeing to move to Miami. Meanwhile, Paola worked hard to get along with Russ’ conservative family, even if his parents weren’t exactly welcoming to her. Today, Paola and Russ are still married and are raising their son, Axel. Together, the three of them make an adorable family.
Worst: Ashley and Jay's marriage didn't last long at all
For a while, Ashley and Jay from Season 6 seemed like two crazy kids who just might make it. They met when Ashley was on vacation in Jamaica, and they hit it off right away (via InTouch). There was a decent age difference, with 11 years between them, and there were some doubts about Jay’s commitment. Still, there was no denying their chemistry. They seemed to be happy together, and, at the end of Season 6, they eloped in Las Vegas.
But they weren’t happily married for long. Soon after they returned home, Ashley found out that Jay had been talking to other women on a dating site. They tried to work through the issue during Season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, but, when Ashley found out that Jay had done much more than chat with women online — that he’d allegedly had sex with a woman in a public restroom — she told him, “If you show up at my house, the police will be waiting to deport your ass.” Ashley filed for divorce, and, at the time of this writing, Jay is facing potential deportation.
Best: 90 Day Fiance's Kyle and Noon are still head over heels in love
Season 3 couple Kyle and his Thai fiancée Noon seemed to fit together from the very beginning. The way that they hugged and cried when they first met at the airport at the beginning of their 90 days was adorable, and the way Noon supported Kyle when he talked about his problems with his parents showed how much she cared for him. The two were so in love, they got along well, and they were shockingly normal by 90 Day Fiancé standards.
Sure, there were a couple issues that the two ran into during their engagement. For one thing, Noon wasn’t happy with Kyle’s dirty bachelor pad (via The Knot), and later on, Kyle’s mom was rude to Noon, asking her if she was only marrying Kyle for a green card. Despite those issues, the two had a peaceful 90 days and got married at the end of the season. The two are still together today and are busy posting some seriously cute photos on Instagram.
Worst: Colt and Larissa had some ugly fights on 90 Day Fiance
Colt and Larissa had so many problems during their engagement on 90 Day Fiancé. Larissa feuded with Colt’s cousin; she and Colt’s mother, Debbie, argued constantly; and, of course, there was the issue of Colt and Larissa not seeming to get along. The tension in their relationship started way back in their first episode when Colt didn’t bring her flowers when he picked her up from the airport, and things only got worse from there.
But that was nothing compared to the stress of Larissa getting arrested right before their wedding. Apparently, when Colt and Larissa were fighting one night, Colt called the police and Larissa was taken to jail. The charges were eventually dropped, and the couple reportedly hoped to move on from the incident. But then Larissa was arrested again after they were married and then again for a third time in January 2019 (via Us Weekly). At one point, Larissa flushed her wedding ring down the toilet. It was surely a sign of the fate of their marriage because the couple finalized their divorce in late April 2019 (via TMZ).
Best: 90 Day Fiance's Evelyn and David hold the same values
Evelyn and David from Season 5 may have seemed mismatched at first. Then-18-year-old singer/songwriter Evelyn was naïve and immature while her Spanish fiancé, 27-year-old David, was older and much more grounded. They had issues, such as clashing on plans for where to live, navigating doubts from Evelyn’s disapproving friend, and figuring out how to pay for the groomsmen’s tuxedos. Still, when these obstacles came up, the two always worked through them.
The only big problem during their engagement was their struggle to wait to have sex until they were married. David had a problem with talking about sex and abstinence on camera, and, at one point, he got upset when Evelyn brought it up in front of the 90 Day Fiancé cameras. Admittedly, the situation was awkward (via Reality Blurb). But they’ve worked through their problems.
By the time these two got married (via InTouch), it was clear that they really cared for each other. Today, they are still together. Evelyn has continued singing, and, in an Instagram post from April 2019, David showed his support for her when she was on American Idol.
Worst: Nicole and Azan have clashed too many times on 90 Day Fiance
Immature and lacking chemistry, 90 Day Fiancé Season 4’s Nicole and Azan had plenty of issues from the beginning. From family drama to cheating scandals to Nicole’s cringe-worthy tantrums when Azan wouldn’t show her PDA, there was no denying these two had their fair share of relationship problems. Still, perhaps the biggest issue for the couple was that Azan didn’t like the way Nicole looked. “Physically I’m attracted to Nicole,” he said, “but it’s not like… just like, for example, 55 percent.” Ouch.
He called her “lazy” multiple times, most notably during a walk in the desert and when Azan acted as a personal trainer to Nicole at the gym. Between the lack of attraction and the hurtful insults, it’s a wonder they made it through their first season of the show without breaking up. Shockingly, Nicole and Azan are still an item as of June 2019.
